What I do

I am a Staff Psychologist and a Trauma Specialist at the University of Denver. I enjoy working with young adults, couples, and groups working to achieve mutual goals. I particularly enjoy working with survivors of trauma, those working on relational issues, and those diagnosed with ADHD. I specialize in working with trauma and I use EMDR to help individuals cope with distressing trauma memories. Additionally, I provide talk therapy using a relational lens. I use active listening, empowerment, advocacy, and psychoeducational tools to help people better understand how to work toward feeling better. My hope is that by talking through problems, learning a little bit about your worldview, and how you can best approach problems, we can work toward achieving your therapy goals together.

Professional Biography

I first began working in mental health after earning my master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Oklahoma. From there, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor. In earning that credential, I primarily worked with victims of natural disasters and non-relational traumas. Upon returning to graduate school, I obtained my Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University. Over the course of my training, I earned additional experience working at the Ross Institute for Trauma providing therapy to survivors of many types of traumas, including longstanding abuse and interpersonal traumas of all kinds. I completed a predoctoral internship here at DU’s Health and Counseling Center providing therapy to university students. After which, I completed a postdoctoral residency at Colorado Therapy and Assessment Center. As a clinician I have worked with university students, pre-school populations, in community mental health, hospital settings, and in private practice. I am a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Colorado, and I am certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Colorado and Oklahoma. These experiences have deepened my trauma work and increased my exposure to more severe pathology. I have worked with a diverse range of clientele, including children from four years of age to adults in older age.
