Health & Counseling Fee (HCF)

Mandatory for all DU undergraduates, and optional for DU graduate students, the Health & Counseling Fee (HCF) helps ensure that you and the rest of the DU student community have access to low-cost counseling and medical appointments, as well as discounts for medications, lab tests, and other services. The fee supports all HCC services — medical, 24/7 counseling, CAPE (the Center for Advocacy, Prevention, & Empowerment), Health Promotion events and outreach, and the Collegiate Recovery Community — while decreasing the cost of medical and counseling visits at the HCC. Direct benefits of the HCF include:

  • Low co-payments for counseling and medical appointments ($20 for primary care)
  • Discounted in-house medications
  • Discounted laboratory tests
  • Discounted procedures

HCF for Undergraduate Students

The HCF is a mandatory fee that cannot be waived. Similar to the technology fee or student activity fee, it's not a charge for individual services or coverage. Instead, the HCF entitles you to access a wide range of services provided by the HCC including low- or no-cost visits, medications, lab tests, procedures, and more. Co-pays and additional charges remain the student's responsibility.

HCF for Graduate Students

The HCF is an optional fee that can be waived. It is not a charge for individual services or coverage. Instead, the HCF allows students access to a wide range of services provided by the HCC including low- or no-cost visits, medications, lab tests, procedures, and more. Co-pays and additional charges remain the student's responsibility.
