Insurance Plans & Fees

As detailed on linked pages, the University requires students to help support and protect their own and community health by:

  1. Carrying a minimum level of health (medical) insurance while enrolled, either by 1) participating in the DU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), OR 2) requesting a SHIP waiver each year, by providing evidence of adequate external coverage.

  2. Paying the Health & Counseling Fee (HCF) each enrolled academic term.

  3. Paying for clinical services received at the HCC, with specific costs (fees) based on their insurance and HCF status. (At present, the HCC does not bill insurance companies; and is not a Medicaid provider.)

  4. Submitting required immunization records or annual exemptions. Holds may be placed on student’s ability to register for future classes until they complete immunization requirements.

Specific requirements vary based on academic program and enrollment date.

Students are assessed (billed) for SHIP and the full HCF unless they actively choose other applicable options by posted deadlines. It is the student’s responsibility to read University messages (emails, MyHealth secure messages, etc) and take necessary actions.

Please click through links above/below for additional details, and/or contact the HCC with questions.
