  • CDC shows that 1 in 3 men experience sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by intimate partner(s) and nearly 56% experience sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by intimate partner(s) before age 25
  • According to RAINN, college men are 5 times more likely to experience sexual violence compared to non- college attending men of the same age.
     

Challenges to Reporting and Seeking Support

  • Fear that police, medical professionals, counselors, or other support services may be insensitive to their experience
  • Inability to recognize what happened as rape because they became sexually aroused, had an erection, or ejaculated during the assault (These are involuntary physiological responses that do not imply consent.)
  • Fear of sexual orientation being questioned
  • Feelings of shame, guilt, and/or embarrassment
