Group Outreach Request

This page provides information on requesting Health & Counseling Center (HCC) informational outreach for your group/event and/or interviews for class projects or career exploration.

If you are seeking individual medical or mental health services, other personal support resources, or have HCC insurance or payment questions, please call us at 303.871.2205 or email hccinfo@du.edu  You can also self-schedule most clinical appointments, check your HCC records, and secure message your HCC providers via the MyHealth portal.

Select the general content type below for details on these commonly requested options.

  • RSO Harm Reduction Requirement

Use the Thrive Health Promotion online form to request workshops to meet the USG Harm Reduction requirement for Registered Student Organizations (clubs). Please make your request at least two weeks in advance of your desired date, as staff schedule out appointments well in advance.

  • Intervene: Active Bystander requirement

Undergraduate Student Government requires all first year and incoming transfer undergraduate students to attend an Intervene: DU active bystander skills workshop in order to register for classes for your 3rd (generally spring) quarter. This is communicated repeatedly through fall and winter terms, with dozens of sessions offered. If you do not fulfill this requirement, a hold is placed on your account.

To avoid or remove the Intervene hold, visit CrimsonConnect to register for an upcoming pre-scheduled training. (Use your @du credentials to access that site.)

These sessions cover strategies for appropriate interventions in cases of potential sexual assaults, racial bias, mental health, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, and alcohol and other drug-related emergencies. We understand that some of the topics covered may be particularly difficult to engage or discuss for personal reasons. If completing this workshop may be activating for you, please email CAPE@du.edu to talk to a confidential advocate about possible exemption.

If you have any other questions about these sessions, please email hcc.thrive@du.edu

  • Students Rights & Responsibility (SRR) workshops

Students seeking to complete sessions required by SRR, such as the Choices About Alcohol workshop, should check CrimsonConnect for available scheduled sessions. (Use your @du credentials to access that site.) These are not scheduled individually or through this page.

  • Counselor-led workshop or incident support

In addition to our non-clinician Health Promotion team, the HCC Counseling Services staff are also available to speak on a variety of mental health–related topics at your residence halls, class, student groups, athletic teams, and campus departments. We have licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and supervised counselors-in-training with broad knowledge of mental health–related issues relevant to DU community members.

    Topics include:

    • Suicide prevention
    • Body image and eating disorders
    • College adjustment issues
    • Issues concerning students of marginalized identities (e.g, LGBTQIA+, international students, students of color)
    • Mood issues
    • Substance use concerns
    • Other mental health concerns

Outreach can be customized to fit audience requests and needs; and additional topics can be addressed upon request.

To request a counselor-led workshop, please complete the online request form at least two weeks in advance of your desired date, as staff schedule out appointments well in advance.

If you require counselor support and/or facilitation in response to a critical incident, please contact Dr Alice Franks

In an emergency, call 9-1-1 or Campus Safety at 303.871.3000. For personal support, we have schedulable appointments (call or via MyHealth), weekday drop-in consultations (1-3pm at our Ritchie Center location --north end, 3rd floor), and after hours on-call providers for urgent matters: 303.871.2205.

  • Resource Fairs & Tabling Events

HCC staff may be able to attend your resource fair or other large group informational event, bringing hardcopy resources and answering questions about our services or well-being topics.

Please complete the online request form at least two weeks in advance of your desired date, as staff schedule out appointments well in advance.

  • Informational interviews

Members of our staff can also connect with you for an informational interview for a class project and/or career exploration. These scheduled, non-clinical conversations (in-person or virtual) allow you to ask staff about their areas of expertise and/or career journey, to increase your own or class group's understanding of an academic topic or professional paths.

Please complete the online request form at least two weeks in advance of your desired date, as staff schedule out appointments well in advance.

If you're not sure where to start with your health and wellness exploration, our Thrive Health Promotion team provides programs and events on a range of well-being topics, including pre-scheduled and by-request workshops/trainings, drop-by tabling, and easy-access social media information. Find more about these offerings on the Thrive site, and/or complete their online request form at least two weeks in advance of your desired date, as staff schedule out appointments well in advance.
