DU Well Coaching

DU Well Coaching is a service available through Thrive Health Promotion that provides students with 1:1 coaching with a trained well-being coach to help you set and achieve your health and well-being goals. Coaches can help you with:

  • Stress management habits
  • Sleep hygiene routines
  • Physical activity routines
  • Developing healthy relationships
  • Finding motivation to achieve your well-being goals

Navigating college life can be challenging, and sometimes it helps to talk with someone who truly understands what you're going through. Peer-to-peer well-being coaching offers a unique opportunity to connect with trained fellow students who can support you in your personal growth and well-being journey. DU Well Coaching is different because:

  • You will have a judgement free space to share your goals with.
  • DU Well Coaches can relate to your experience in a unique way, because they are also students!
  • Skills developed during DU Well Coaching will last long after you graduate from DU. DU Well Coaching helps you set a foundation of lifelong well-being.

HCC Counseling Services  

Wellness Coaching is private, but not confidential. This means that what is said during your coaching sessions will be kept between you two, but if there is either: a disclosure that you are a harm to yourself or others or if there is a disclosure related to sexual assault or other forms of interpersonal violence. Such disclosures will be reported the the appropriate campus offices.

Student Success Coaching supports students in actively managing one's own learning through collaboration and the facilitation of self-reflection, goal setting, and academic skill development. 

Counseling Services from the Health and Counseling Center are confidential, meaning that what is shared in counseling sessions are kept between you and the counselor and are not reportable to the University. 

DU Well Coaching consists of staff and undergraduate student coaches who help you improve life style habits, routines, and provide support and accountability for you as you work towards your well-being goals. Coaches are not mental health professionals and cannot diagnose or treat mental health conditions. 

Student Success Coaches are currently enrolled graduate level students who support you with organization, time management, understanding your learning style, and developing study skills. 

Licensed counselors help address concerns you have around things like anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief.

Is DU Well Coaching confidential?

All Wellness Coaching sessions are private, but not confidential. This means that what is said during your coaching sessions will be kept between you and your coach, but if certain information is shared pertaining to harming of yourself or others, sexual assault or other forms of interpersonal violence, or bias and discrimination, then that information will need to be reported to the appropriate parties.  Wellness Coaches are considered Responsible Employees and will follow the appropriate policies laid out by the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX.  

What do coaching sessions look like?

Your initial coaching session will consist of reviewing your pre-survey with your Coach and completing a holistic wellness reflection to identify what goals you have for coaching.  

Each session after that will focus on helping you create strategies to achieve your goals.  

Is there a cost for DU Well Coaching?

Coaching services are free for all on campus students who have paid the Health & Counseling Fee. 

What other kinds of coaching opportunities are on campus?

While DU Well Coaching can help provide motivation and goal setting for your physical fitness goals, we are not personal trainers. For inquiries about personal training, please see the Coors Fitness Center.
