HCC Counseling Services

Wellness Coaching is private, but not confidential. This means that while the content of your coaching sessions will generally be kept between you and your coach, certain disclosures must be reported. Specifically, if you share that you are a danger to yourself or others, or if you disclose an experience related to sexual assault or other forms of interpersonal violence, your coach is required to report this information to the appropriate campus offices.

Student Success Coaching supports students in actively managing one's own learning through collaboration and the facilitation of self-reflection, goal setting, and academic skill development.

Counseling Services from the Health and Counseling Center are confidential, meaning that what is shared in counseling sessions are kept between you and the counselor. The only instances where confidentiality would be broken is if there is a threat to self, or others, threat to a location, etc.

DU Well Coaching consists of trained coaches who help you improve life style habits, routines, and provide support and accountability for you as you work towards your well-being goals. Coaches are not mental health professionals and cannot diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

Student Success Coaches are currently enrolled graduate level students who support you with organization, time management, understanding your learning style, and developing study skills.

Licensed counselors help address concerns you have around things like anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is DU Well Coaching confidential?

All Wellness Coaching sessions are private, but not confidential. This means that what is said during your coaching sessions will be kept between you and your coach, but if certain information is shared pertaining to harming of yourself or others, sexual assault or other forms of interpersonal violence, or bias and discrimination, then that information will need to be reported to the appropriate parties.  Wellness Coaches are considered Responsible Employees and will follow the appropriate policies laid out by the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX.

What do coaching sessions look like?

Your initial coaching session will consist of an in-depth conversation with your Coach to review your goals and what you want to focus on. Each session, you will work with your Coach to identify a goal that seems attainable. Your coach will guide you towards a well-being plan to implement to achieve your goals.

Each session after that will focus on whatever you need to make the progress you want to see.

Is there a cost for DU Well Coaching?

Coaching services are free for all on campus students who have paid the Health & Counseling Fee.

Fully online students are not eligible to participate in DU Well Coaching.

What other kinds of coaching opportunities are on campus?
