COVID Vaccine Recommendation
Protecting the health and safety of our shared campus community is everyone's responsibility.
Like many other respiratory illnesses, COVID-19 virus and its variants can cause serious negative life impacts, but can be prevented or minimized through regular vaccination. And those exposed and/or experiencing symptoms can take steps to reduce impact on self and risk to others.
Annual Vaccination Recommended
As a recommendation by the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the University of Denver recommends all students, faculty, and staff who live, work, and/or attend classes on campus to get annual COVID AND influenza vaccinations, because the flu and COVID-19 illness can cause similar symptoms, occur simultaneously, and pose serious health risks to members of our community.
While not available on campus, the COVID vaccine is available at many retail pharmacies, usually at no cost to those with insurance. (Info here for those un- and under-insured.) The Safeway and Walgreens locations at Evans Ave & Downing Street are the closest locations to the DU campus.
Testing
The HCC offers testing for eligible students, but always encourages those not feeling well to call 303.871.2205 and speak to a triage nurse before scheduling appointment.
Information on free access to home testing is at https://covidtests.gov
Precautions When Sick
Covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and washing your hands with soap regularly, can help decrease the spread of many illnesses.
