Labyrinth @ Warren Circle: Overview, Map, and Reflection Prompt!

Labyrinths are ancient and contemporary exercises in mindfulness, spirituality, reflection, and wellness in a number of religious and cultural traditions. Learn more about labyrinths at The Labyrinth Society page | And: If you would like to share some information about your experiences walking the labyrinth, you can click on this link to participate in a three-minute research survey

There are many ways to engage the labyrinth. Here is one way:
  1. Choose a question, life or world issue, or intention for the walk
  2. Pause before entering, let go of expectations, and become aware of body and mind
  3. Walk with mindfulness, an open heart, and an open mind; be in each moment and let what happens happen
  4. Go at your own pace
  5. Walk in silence
  6. If you encounter someone faster, just step aside.  Not a big deal.
  7. Pause and reflect in the center.  Spend as much time there as you like.  Others may come and go – focus on your own timing, not theirs, not the world’s.
  8. If you encounter someone entering while you are exiting, step aside.  Not a big deal.
  9. On path out, reflect, connect, prepare to reenter the everyday world, changed.

Answer life's big questions...in a ball pit...with a stranger!

Some comments from the 9.5.24 Ball Pit!

  • We are the grains of sand, life is the waves, you must let go so life can take you to the beach you are meant to be on surrounded by the grains of sand you’re suppose to be around.
  • I really liked that Professor Pessin was there to direct the conversation and allowed it to flow in any which way. There wasn’t an expectation when answering allowing for broader interpretation of the questions. I would definitely recommend!
  • I really enjoyed the experience! It was really cool to be in a comfortable safe space and talk with others!
  • I really enjoyed the ball pit and I truly believe it was an awesome idea and should be done every year!! Talking about what spirituality is for me in a judgment free zone was quite an enjoyable experience and the ball pit felt like I was in a very fluffy cloud.
  • Very calm environment. It is nice to talk to a philosophy professor in a nonchalant environment.
  • I love deep conversations about religion, so being able to discuss in a safe space is really impactful.
  • I loved chatting with the organizer ( sorry I can’t remember her name!!) and with the other person in the pit, it was great to hear how music and nature have affected different people.
  • I loved getting prompted to talk about something deeper with my peers and share experiences that otherwise might be viewed in a skeptical light. It's not often that you get a chance to talk deeply with peers in this society, since every social interaction revolves around shared present happenings.
  • Personally, the aspect of a new feeling physically helped make me more comfortable with a type of social interaction with a stranger I hadn't thought of being possible.
  • the ball pit was so relaxing
  • It was an fulfilling moment of calm that just popped out of nowhere
  • I liked how open and calming I felt. It was as if I didn’t have to worry about my filter or making an impression. I could just be me.
  • Having genuine conversation is always fun and appreciated especially with people you’re never met because they’ll tell you things that can really resonate with you or make you think.
  • It was very calming. Like being encased in blankets
  • Peace
  • ...I love how open and accepting you were...
  • I learned something new about how memories work! I also ended up having a great conversation with the “stranger” after we got out of the ball pit.
