Mission Statement

The Dean of Students Office takes a comprehensive and integrated approach to student support, access, accountability, and restorative intervention. We engage students holistically through proactive and responsive collaboration to address and mitigate barriers to facilitate a student’s full engagement in their DU experience. Students learn strategies and skills that foster their learning, connection, and success. The core principles of the DoS office include:

  • One-on-One Engagement
    • Specialized expertise focused on tailored individual support and accountability plans with students
    • Skill building in self-awareness, self- advocacy, support, connection (academic and non-academic), and navigation
  • Wrap Around Support
    • Holistic team approach to care as part of a support network
  • Informed Referrals and Personalized Connections
    • Intentional connections to resources with personal introductions for seamless engagement
  • Reflection and Meaning-Making
    • Interactive conversations to process life challenges, deepen self-awareness, growth, and understanding, and develop more strategies to meet goals

 

The Dean of Students Office serves as a central hub to connect all students to supportive campus and community resources to successfully navigate their DU experience.

The DoS Office partners with faculty and staff across campus to best serve our students through advocacy, collaboration, and education.

FIRST@DU

FIRST@DU provides support for pathway programs, first-generation, minoritized, and other underrepresented students at the University of Denver through mentorship, community activities, leadership development, resource and scholarship support, and academic success workshops.
