What I do
I have a generalist social work background with specific interests in areas of: working with the BIPOC community, unhoused folx, childhood trauma and intergenerational trauma, LGBTQIA+, sexual assault, stalking, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, PTSD, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, advocacy, and working with community members that are new to the United States. I have been doing advocacy work for the past 10 years and believe in advocating at all levels of practice - micro, mezzo and macro – to address issues of power, privilege and oppression.
My approach is trauma-informed, strength-based, culturally relevant, collaborative, and systems focused. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychotherapy and Narrative Therapy.
Personal Interests: I enjoy exploring nature and basking in its healing powers, drinking a warm cup of herbal tea, spending time with people that fill my cup, traveling, social justice issues, the ocean and learning.
Professional Biography
I have been working in non-profits for the past 10 years in various capacities. I have spent the past 10 years in service of historically marginalized communities mostly in New York City and in the past year in the Denver metro area. My work includes and it is not limited to fiercely advocating for people targeted by family, criminal and immigration court systems. My proudest professional moment is to have served my community of The Bronx in many capacities, as a psychotherapist, advocate and academic advisor. I am looking forward to supporting the student body at DU.
