Balanced Eating

Balanced eating is about giving your body a steady mix of nutrients so you can feel your best day to day. When you include a variety of foods - carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats, and plenty of fruits and vegetables - you support stable energy, improved focus, and overall well-being. Balanced eating isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency, flexibility, and finding what works for your lifestyle.

One strategy to meet nutrition recommendations is to try and build balanced meals using models such as the one below: half fruits and/or vegetables, a quarter grains (whole grain when possible) and a quarter proteins.

Remember:

  • Balance looks different for everyone
  • Preferences, culture, allergies, habits, medical conditions, goals, and your day-to-day will influence your choices
  • Emphasize and prioritize fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and plant proteins, as often as you can
  • Be gentle with yourself
  • Allow yourself snacks, treats, and know your eating pattern doesn’t have to be perfect
  • Listen to your body for hunger cues, thirst, fullness.
