First Year Communities
We believe that a student's first year is one of the most exciting times as our new students learn more build new connections, make memories, and discover DU! All of our first-year students live in one of three residence halls. Be sure to explore each of our residence halls below to consider where you might want to live during your first year at DU.
When you live on campus, you don't have to go through a new experience alone. Not only can you connect with your new friends that live near you, but each residential community is also supported by Resident Assistant (or "RA" for short). RAs live on the floor to help build communities by getting to know each resident, planning social events, and being a resource when you don't quite know where to go! Be sure to get to know them.
Johnson-McFarlane Hall
Johnson-McFarlane Hall, or J-Mac, is our smallest residence hall and steps away from STEM and Lamont classes. You'll love the "J-Mac Beach," a lawn area where students play Frisbee, catch some rays, and just hang out to people-watch.
