HCC holiday closures

Please note that the HCC (clinics and administrative offices) will be closed for

  • DU's Thanksgiving holiday: Thursday-Friday, November 27-28th;

  • divisional staff retreat: Tuesday, December 2nd; and

  • the annual DU Winter Closure: Wednesday, December 24th through Thursday, January 1st.

Clinics and admin office will be open on December 22-23rd; and will re-open for regular hours on Friday, January 2nd.

When we're closed, students can reach on-call clinical providers for urgent matters by calling 303.871.2205, and following "after hours" prompts.

After reviewing the info below, please feel free to contact us with questions. Call 303.871.2205 during business hours or email hccinfo@du.edu

  • CONTINUING quarter students

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) coverage (or approved waiver) continues from fall; no action is needed.

Undergraduate students who started in September 2025 and did not complete the USG-required Intervene: DU active bystander skills workshop by October 31st, should email hcc.thrive@du.edu for options to complete the requirement and lift the registration hold from your account.

  • NEW quarter students

    Submit your required immunization records.

Interested in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)? Call 303.871.2205 or email insurance@du.edu before January 23, 2026, to ask about manual enrollment possibilities. (Next required action is spring for all quarter students.)

Are eligible to use our clinics as of January 2nd (orientation day ahead of classes starting).

Undergraduate students starting at DU in January 2026 must attend the USG-required Intervene: DU active bystander skills workshop during Winter Discoveries Orientation on Saturday, January 3rd.

  • HealthCARE over winter break

New students (starting studies in January) cannot use our clinics until January 2nd (orientation day before classes start).

    For current/continuing students:

    • HCC clinics will continue regular weekday hours through much of winter break; but will be closed for DU's Thanksgiving holiday (Thursday-Friday, November 27-28th); divisional staff retreat (Tuesday, December 2nd); and the annual DU Winter Closure (Wednesday, December 24th through Thursday, January 1st). Clinics will be open on December 22-23rd; and re-open on Friday, January 2nd.

      • When we're closed, on-call clinical providers can be reached for urgent matters by calling 303.871.2205, and following "after hours" prompts.

    • While HCC telehealth may be available for some situations, SHIP-covered students not in Denver during winter break can find local SHIP in-network providers via www.anthem.com/find-care

  • Health & Counseling FEE (HCF)

The full HCF is automatically billed each term to most students registered for classes, to support campuswide health, well-being and crisis support programs, and also to provide discounts when they use HCC clinical services.

    • For undergraduates, the HCF is mandatory; and cannot be waived.
    • Graduate/Law students can make some choices each academic term, based on when they began their current graduate program. Details on our HCF page; and visit my4DU portal and select Student Resources > Records and Requests to make applicable decisions by each term's deadline.
  • Federal 1095-B forms for 2025 TAXES

IRS 1095-B forms (for tax filing) are provided directly by Anthem for SHIP-covered students; and are generally available by late January for the previous calendar year. SHIP students should contact Anthem with any questions, at 1-833-332-0798 (also on the back of your Anthem insurance card).
