Preparing for Winter Quarter

This page briefly summarizes key health + wellness information and action items for students as the Winter Quarter begins.

Law students, new and continuing, should review our Preparing for Spring page.

Students graduating or otherwise not returning to DU for winter quarter should review our Leaving DU webpage.

After reviewing the info below, please feel free to contact us with questions. Call 303.871.2205 during business hours or email hccinfo@du.edu

Health & Counseling Fee (HCF)

The full HCF is automatically billed each term to most students registered for classes, to support campuswide health, well-being and crisis support programs, and also to provide discounts when they use HCC clinical services.

  • For undergraduates, the HCF is mandatory; and cannot be waived.
  • Graduate/Law students can make some choices each academic term, based on when they began their current graduate program. Details on our HCF page; and visit my4DU portal and select Student Resources > Records and Requests to make applicable decisions by each term's deadline.

Continuing quarter students

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) coverage (or approved waiver) continues from fall; no action is needed.

Undergraduate students, be sure to complete a USG-required Intervene workshop ASAP to avoid registration holds. Get more information on Thrive Health Promotion offerings!

NEW quarter students

Submit your required immunization records.

Interested in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)? Call 303.871.2205 or email insurance@du.edu to ask about manual enrollment possibilities. (Next required action is spring for all quarter students.)
