Health & Counseling FEE (HCF) - all students
The HCF is automatically billed each term to most students registered for classes, to support campuswide health, well-being, and crisis support programs, and also to provide discounts when they use HCC clinical services.
- For undergraduates, the HCF is mandatory; and cannot be waived.
- Graduate/Law students can make some choices each academic term, based on when they began their current graduate program. Details on our HCF page; and visit my4DU portal and select Student Resources > Records and Requests to make applicable decisions by each term's deadline.

Care and admin ACCESS through finals and Winter Break
Please note that the HCC (clinics and administrative offices) will be closed for DU's Thanksgiving holiday: Thursday-Friday, November 27-28th; a divisional staff retreat: Tuesday, December 2nd; and the annual DU Winter Closure: Wednesday, December 24th through Thursday, January 1st.
HCC clinics and admin office will be open on December 22-23rd; and re-open for regular hours on Friday, January 2nd.
When we're closed, students can reach on-call clinical providers for urgent matters by calling 303.871.2205, and following "after hours" prompts.
CONTINUING semester students
If you are satisfied with your current approved waiver or Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) coverage, AND are registered for spring term, that choice will continue through spring+summer. You do not need to do anything.
If you are securing non-DU SHIP coverage beginning January 1st, you'll have the option to request a spring+summer SHIP waiver via online process. Stay tuned for details. (Note that plans not accepted for waiver in fall would still not be considered.)
If you waived SHIP for fall but are losing non-SHIP coverage at end of December, you can contact the HCC to enroll in SHIP for spring semester. (You must be registered for spring courses to join SHIP.)
IRS 1095-B forms (for tax filing) are provided directly by Anthem for SHIP-covered students; and are generally available by late January for the previous calendar year. SHIP students should contact Anthem with any questions, at 1-833-332-0798 (also on the back of your Anthem insurance card).
NEW semester students (starting studies in January)
Submit your required immunization records.
Most incoming students must make an insurance decision by January 23, 2026: either accepting the DU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or requesting a waiver via the my4D. (After registering for spring classes, visit my4D portal; under Student Resources > Records and Requests > Accept or Waive Health Insurance. You will only be provided options relevant to your enrollment status.)
Are eligible to use our clinics as of January 2nd, 2026, (orientation day ahead of classes starting).
Federal 1095-B forms for 2025 TAXES
