New Students

Discoveries Orientation takes place before classes start and is required for all First Year and Transfer students.

New Student Orientation aka Discoveries Orientation, is your official welcome to DU!  Discoveries Orientation consists of both online and in-person content.

  • Online content will be available in the months prior to arrival. To learn more about this content, visit our Discoveries Online. 
  • In-person Discoveries Orientation programming begins with Move-In and programming until the start of classes. 

You’ll discover how to thrive both inside and outside the classroom, explore campus with confidence, access valuable resources and support services, and build meaningful connections with your peers!

8:30am-11:30am: Move In at your Residence Hall 

10:00am-11:00am: Explore Campus 

11:30am-1:00pm: Lunch in the Community Commons 

1:00-1:30: Check In at the Community Commons 1700 

1:30-2:00pm: Welcome for New Students & their families and guests

2:00pm-3:00pm: Student Panel- Ask us Anything! 

3:00-4:00pm 

  • New Students: 4D Peer Mentor Small Group Time
  • New families, parents, and support systems: Navigating the Transition: Supporting Your Student’s DU Experience info session

4:00pm-5:00pm: Hot Cocoa Social for Students & Families 

5:00pm-7:00pm: Discoveries After Dark

Saturday, January 3

10:30am-1:30pm: Brunch 

11:00am-12:30pm: Mandatory Intervene Training: DU Active Bystander Workshop for New Student Orientation

1:30-2:30pm: Campus Quest: Campus Highlights Tour

5:00pm-7:00pm: Discoveries After Dark

Sunday, January 4

9:00am: Returning Student Move In 

11:00am-1:00pm: Brunch

11:35am-2:00pm: Discover Denver Tour of South Pearl Street
