Voices of Discovery Intergroup Dialogues
Please note: Voices is currently on hold as we redevelop our dialogue offerings under the larger DU DialogUes initiative. Please check there for current opportunities!
DU's diversity dialogue program brings together small groups of students from varied backgrounds to share their life and campus experiences related to diversity. The five-week program provides educational and involvement opportunities for student participants, graduate student facilitators and faculty/instructor and program coordinator collaborations.
2012-13 marked Voices' 11th year at DU, as a theory-based, co-curricular program providing student participants the opportunity to engage in facilitated reflection and dialogue about our identities and experiences. The small, diverse groups (no more than 20 participants) engage in face-to-face dialogue around a particular set of group identities (e.g., gender, race/ethnicity) and/or diversity-related topics (worldview, social systems, perceptions in the media, etc). The program consists of five weekly sessions (two hours per week) held during the middle of the quarter, led by a pair of trained graduate student facilitators.
Typical quarter timeline:
- by Monday of Second Week: group topics and schedule posted here and online applications open
- 8am Friday of Second Week: applications due
- afternoon of Friday of Second Week: acceptances and assignments emailed out
- Fourth Week: dialogues begin meeting (for five consecutive weeks)
- Eighth Week: final dialogue meetings
