Calvin Dorsey
Psychiatrist
Pronouns: He/Him/His
What I do
As a psychiatrist, I am trained to diagnose, treat, and educate patients about a variety of mental health conditions. I prescribe medications when appropriate, but as a therapy-focused psychiatrist, I often consider medications as a compliment to one's baseline therapy work. Some patients do well with prioritizing psychotherapy at first before deciding to introduce medications. I am comfortable with a variety of preferences. I prefer to work with patients on minimizing their medications overtime while also improving their emotional capacity.
Professional Biography
After finishing schoolwork in Chicago and Virginia, I moved back home to Denver for my psychiatry residency at the University of Colorado Anschutz. This included working with a variety of patients at the Veterans Affairs hospital, Denver Health, Children's Hospital of Colorado, and various specialty clinics. On top of my general coursework, I have spent extra time in training to offer psychoanalysis and mental health treatment for elite athletes.
