What is the Health and Counseling Center (HCC) and where is it located?
The University of Denver Health & Counseling Center is your on-campus integrated health and counseling facility providing quality physical and mental health care services to all actively enrolled DU students other than those in completely online programs.
The HCC has multiple locations, depending on your need and appointment. Our main location (medical and some counseling appointments) is in the Ritchie Center on the northeast corner of campus, roughly a 15-minute walk from the Anderson Academic Commons. Some counseling appointments may be held in our Asbury location, located on the northeast corner of University Boulevard and Asbury Avenue.

Should I come to the HCC in an emergency?
No. If you or someone around you is in an emergency situation, call 9-1-1, or Campus Safety at 303-871-3000 right away.
While the Health & Counseling Center is not an emergency room, urgent care facility or open 24/7, they are here to help you get help when you need it. For a non-emergency illness, injury, or mental health crisis, call 303-871-2205 — to get connected with resources 24/7.

How do I sign up for the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)?
All students enrolled in one or more hours of graded, on-campus coursework at the University of Denver are required to carry personal health insurance coverage. Fortunately, the University offers its own convenient health insurance plan designed specifically for our student body — the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is ideal for the vast majority of students.
Please review the DU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) enrollment on the DU Student Billing (Bursars) website.
-
Can outside insurance cover student HCC costs?
The HCC does not bill third-party insurance. Students can submit their bill from the HCC to their private health insurance for reimbursement if desired.
-
Where can I view/pay a bill or view lab results?
You can view your bill, pay co-pays, and view lab results in your MyHealth Portal (https://myhealth.du.edu).
-
Will the details of my medical/counseling care be kept confidential?
Yes. In addition to general student FERPA protections, the HCC has additional privacy practices, which means student care details, including whether or not a student has used HCC services, is confidential.
