Business Operations & Division Resources (BODR) is the central Student Affairs budget and resource office. Located in Driscoll Commons and serving all 25 SA units, BODR is guided by the below mission and values.

BODR Leadership

Lori Gordon

Assistant Vice Chancellor, Business, Operations and Division Resources

Lori joins the University of Denver after serving at Northwestern University for nearly 15 years and 1.5 years at Duke University. At Northwestern, she started in the Office of Budget and Planning with a portfolio that included Residential Services, Dining, Facilities and Capital Planning. She joined the Kellogg School of Management (KSM) where she was an Associate Director of Facilities and worked on renovations of the Allen Center and closely with the Executive Education team. Early 2016 Lori was promoted to the Executive Director of Business and Finance for the Division of Student Affairs. Lori led a team of Student Affairs colleagues that presented at Northwestern Universities’ Best Practices Forum demonstrating how Tableau could be effectively used for more efficient dashboard development supporting both information sharing and leadership decisions. In 2018 she was awarded Northwestern Student Affairs Stewardship Award.

Lori joined the Duke University Student Affairs team where she served as the Division Chief Financial Officer for Student Affairs as the university emerged from the pandemic. Prior to her career in higher education, Lori worked in various finance, planning, and purchasing roles across PepsiCo, Sara Lee, Brinker International and Thompson Reuters.

Lori received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering Geology from Texas A&M University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Tennessee. She is a member of   NACUBO and SHRM. Lori enjoys visiting her daughter, Audrey, in Austin and son, Jack, at CU-Boulder; her husband and two dogs in Chicago and jogging, hiking, motorcycling and playing golf (albeit not very well).

Tommy Nagle

Assistant Director of Business Operations and Division Resources

Tommy Nagle serves as the Assistant Director of Business Operations and Division Resources within Student Affairs. He joined the University of Denver after working as a Business and Operations Coordinator in University Advancement. Before relocating to Denver in 2015, Tommy managed an instrument repair and music lesson program in central Connecticut.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut in 2012.

Outside of work, Tommy enjoys attending concerts, spending time outdoors, and being with friends and family. He shares his home with Ein, his mischievous yet lovable 5-year-old Corgi, who enjoys hiding his belongings throughout their apartment.

Karen Ramon

Director of Business Operations and Division Resources

Karen Ramon serves as the Director of Business Operations and Division Resources for Student Affairs, where she has played a key leadership role since joining as a Business Officer in September 2021. Prior to this role, she worked in the Chambers Center for Student Affairs with HERS, serving as both an Accountant and Instructional Designer.

With over 20 years of experience in the education and nonprofit sectors, Karen has led initiatives in program development, accounting procedures, and strategic planning. Her professional background also includes teaching mathematics and business at both the secondary and postsecondary levels.

Karen holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Colorado State University. Committed to community service, she has volunteered as a board member for STEMblazers and Ben Franklin Academy.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her partner and three sons. A former military child, she has lived in diverse places including Guam and Germany—experiences that fueled her love for travel. Her favorite pastimes include playing tennis, volleyball, and exploring new destinations.

Angie McElwreath

Sr. Business Analyst

Angie McElwreath serves as Sr. Business Analyst in the Information Technology Department exclusively supporting Student Affairs. Prior to serving in this role, Angie has spent most of her career supporting student success in Student Finance at lenders, services, and other institutions.

Angie received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder. In addition, she serves as a member of the IT Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and is working on her Six Sigma belts. In addition, Angie is a Colorado native and enjoys spending time traveling to beach locations, kick boxing and time with her husband, kids and three pugs, Kato, Samwiches and Mushu!

Darin Boutet

Sr. Support Specialist

Darin serves as an Sr. Support Specialist and partners with Business Operations and Division Resources, for Student Affairs. Darin has a background in photojournalism, A/V, and event support and prior to serving in this role, he worked with Digital Media Services. He has been providing technology related support for DU since 2018.

Darin received a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting from Champlain College and Graduate Specialized Degree from the University of Denver in Telecommunications Technologies. Darin has lived in Vermont, Summit County Colorado and is originally from Maine.

Jared Smith

Business Analyst 4D

Jared Smith is serving as Business Analyst I for the 4D Student Experience. He is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia Southern University. He enjoys hiking with his partner and his goldendoodle Reuben.

Brenda Nix

Business Officer I

Brenda is joining Student Affairs Business of Operations and Division Resources as the new Business Officer I. She is originally from Chicago, IL. She received a Bachelor of Science from Tulane University in 2003 and a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from Chicago State University in 2011. After moving to Denver in 2011, Brenda worked as Parks Operation and Planning Coordinator at Foothills Park and Recreation District in Littleton, CO, handling administrative duties, natural resource management, and grant writing for the park district. She took some time off when her daughter was born and then returned to the workforce as the DU-MERISTEM Grant Coordinator at the University of Denver. In this role, she oversaw the programmatic activities and financial responsibilities of the NSF-funded program that aims to improve equity in STEM faculty at DU. In her free time, Brenda enjoys bike riding with her daughter, eating sushi with her partner, cuddling with her dog, and working on puzzles with a good cup of coffee.

Brenda will be spending her first 1-2 months training with BODR, and once her department portfolio is identified, stakeholder meetings will be scheduled
