Getting to Know Goldie:
-
What is AI?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. AI can be trained to understand the resources available in an environment such as the University of Denver. AI pulls information and learns information in a super-fast way to provide real-time support.
Who is DU partnering with to provide this resource to students?
- CollegeVine which is an AI platform for colleges and universities.
-
What does Goldie AI Support Agent do?
Goldie is the 24/7 AI trained Student Support Agent at the University of Denver (DU). Goldie has been trained specifically on DU information. When you ask Goldie questions, you get information about DU. Think of Goldie like other AI tools, but with a focus on information about DU, to support your engagement and integration into your DU experience.
Although we have trained and tested Goldie, please understand that AI can be helpful in providing information, but it is not perfect. Quick Note: Before making any decisions based on information provided by Goldie, please pause and reflect on the following:
- Does the answer Goldie gave make sense?
- Double-check important details like deadlines, requirements, or materials.
- If something feels unclear, ask a human staff member.
Quick Note: The more information that you give to Goldie, the better Goldie’s answer will be. For example, rather than asking “How do I get engaged with clubs and activities on campus?” ask, “I am interested in learning about the clubs and organizations available at DU.”
-
Does Goldie Remember our Past Conversations?
Yes, Goldie will remember past conversations to continue to provide you with comprehensive support and connection to resources.
-
How do I talk with Goldie?
Talk to Goldie in the same way that you would talk to one of Goldie’s human colleagues. There are no special commands or formats; it is an everyday conversation.
Quick Note: The more specific that you can be and the more context you can provide, the better the answer will be from Goldie.
-
Why is Goldie a resource only for undergraduate students at this time?
Because Goldie works in partnership with DUey, the undergraduate AI Recruiter.
Your Privacy and Safety:
-
Can Goldie view my personal information and is it being shared?
Goldie has access to general information provided by DU staff members such as your name, phone number, email, and general student information to support you. In addition, Goldie can connect past conversations with you to help provide continuity. She does not have access to information beyond that.
-
What Goldie cannot view?
What Goldie knows about you is limited. She will not be able to answer specific questions about your student records. For example, Goldie cannot view your financial aid information.
-
Is Talking to Goldie safe and private?
Your conversations with Goldie are handled securely and privately. DU Staff members may review conversations with Goldie to inform system improvement and to provide follow-up. These conversations constitute education records protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). You can find out more information about FERPA at the Office of the Registrar Privacy/FERPA website
Quick Note: Never share sensitive personally identifiable information through any AI tool, including but not limited to, your Social Security Number, bank account information, or passwords. Protect Yourself Online: Please remember that sometimes scammers pretend to be schools, companies, banks, or AI tools to try to get your personal information through attempts known as phishing. If anyone -- AI or human -- is asking for personal information like the examples above, this is a red flag, and you should not give that information.
