What I do

I use a student-centered, research-backed approach to providing mental health and suicide prevention trainings, workshops, and programming. My efforts promote a campus community focused on mental and emotional safety and wellbeing.

The work I do can only be completed in a collaborative and critical framework that recognizes oppressive systems, centers marginalized voices, and makes it every community member’s responsibility to ensure our campus is truly inclusive and safe.

The initiatives I lead are both focused on fostering student resilience and educating community members on appropriate response when crises occur. I will do everything in my power to ensure students at DU have the knowledge and skillsets needed to address the stresses and challenges of higher education, while also preparing the community to respond swiftly to prevent tragedy.

Professional Biography

Much of my professional journey thus far has been tied to UCLA and Residential Life. In my time at UCLA, I served as a Resident Director and Assistant Resident Director and focused my efforts on creating more comprehensive and data-driven mental health training for staff. I also served in an on-call capacity that allowed me to see the importance of suicide prevention and mental wellbeing firsthand.

I have had the privilege of working at the University of Connecticut in roles focused on program development, student conduct, and academic advising. Additionally, I spent one summer as a Summer Residence Coordinator at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where I developed our COVID-19 response protocols among other duties.

My many personal and professional passions include mental health, game-based learning, exploration of masculinities, student development, and restorative justice.
