Disability Services Program

The Disability Services Program (DSP) is committed to providing equitable opportunities to all students in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, as amended, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable laws.

Students with disabilities deserve to participate in all of the University of Denver's courses, programs, and activities. We, at the DSP, help to facilitate this participation by approving and providing accommodations at no extra cost for any student who has a documented disability.

Learn how to apply for accommodations, how the approval process works, and what comes next at the links below.  Reach out to us at 303-871-3241, dsp@du.edu, or stop in. Our office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

What is Considered a Disability?

A disability is any physical, mental, or health impairment that substantially limits at least one major life activity such as walking, hearing, seeing, speaking, breathing, or learning. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, as amended, protects individuals with, but is not limited to, the following conditions:

  • Visual impairment or blindness
  • Hearing impairment or deafness
  • Clinical mental and emotional health conditions
  • Learning disabilities
  • Brain injuries
  • Epilepsy
  • Autism spectrum conditions
  • Impaired mobility
  • Other health issues, including cancer, diabetes, and food allergies

This list is not exhaustive. If you have a disability that you feel would qualify you for accommodation(s), or if you need assistance to determine whether you qualify, please contact us.
